ELIZABETH
BAEZ PUERTO RICO PINTA LOS COLORES DE EMOCIONES SOLO ENCONTRADAS EN UN TRANQUILO
PAISAJE O EN LA CARA DE UN INFANTE “Puedo aún recordar la alegría que sentí cuando
sostuve un pincel en kindergarten, la libertad de expresión que representaba.
Este sentimiento nunca me ha dejado. El arte es mi conexión con Dios”. La artista
ELIZABETH BAEZ cree firmemente que Dios es el secreto de su fundamento artístico.
Sus pinturas proyectan una diversidad de temas que despiertan sentimientos de
encuentros fraternales con la naturaleza humana, idisioncracias familiares y amor
maternal. Nacida en Brooklyn, Nueva York, de padres puertorriqueños, BAEZ obtuvo
un conocimiento de estos dos mundos desde muy tierna edad, cuando su familia se
mudó a la Isla del Encanto. Durante esta época de transformación, adquirió el
conocimiento y el orgullo de su herencia cultural y lazos familiares. Estas nuevas
experiencias en su vida la condujeron a descubrir nuevas aptitudes que pedían
ser liberadas. “Aún durante esta época, el arte fue siempre una gran parte de
mi vida, al pasar cada momento libre dibujando”, recuerda BAEZ. La artista utiliza
colores vívidos que evocan emociones. En su técnica, captura el alma de cada pintura
ondulando sus pinceladas en un sentimiento de alegría, desesperación o esperanza.
“El arte parece llamarme con esta necesidad de expresión, de ser visto, de ser
compartido”, explica BAEZ al referirse a la razón de exaltar tales sentimientos
en su obra de arte. “Creo que el arte es mi conexión con Dios, que es por lo que
llama tan fuertemente para ser compartido”. En su variedad de posiblidades, BAEZ
nos muestra paisajes, retratos, naturaleza muerta y arte contemporáneo. Por
ejemplo, “Nobody’s Child” expresa el miedo y el aislamiento de un niño sin hogar.
Conmueve las fibras de nuestro corazón porque todo el mundo ha tenido este tipo
de sentimiento en un momento u otro. “Pinto en las horas tempranas de la mañana,
en la noche, siempre que tengo un momento”, dice BAEZ entristecida por el poco
tiempo que tiene en su vida tan ocupada, como esposa, madre de dos niños y sus
trabajbola de energía dentro de mí que no me deja hasta que es soltada sobre el
lienzo”. En
agudo contraste con “Nobody’s Child”, su pintura “Mother Joy” nos brinda un abrazo
de colores tan intenso que uno siente la conexión entre una madre y su pequeño.
Se parece a una escena de María, la madre de las madres, con el Hijo de Dios,
Jesús. “Pinto niños porque ellos hablan tal como es, si es triste o feliz, sus
expresiones faciales son tan vívidas que son muy fácil de describir”, nos asegura
la artista. “Parece que cuando más cerca quiero estar de Dios, más claras son
las imágenes que veo”. os diarios. “
